Tahoe's Trash Pick Up Challenge

About 3 year(s) ago by Donner Lake Village

Help keep Tahoe Blue by picking up trash throughout September! Every Saturday this month is a cleanup day! We welcome visitors and long-time locals to participate on the weekend or any day, any time that suits their calendar in September. You can even join in remotely! As if cleaning up our beloved Lake Tahoe isn't a prize in itself, participants can also win raffle prizes!

Winning is easy! Just email photos of the litter you find to events@keeptahoeblue.org and submit your data. The more photos and data you collect, the more entries you earn! Photo categories include Best Before And After, Most Single-Use Items Collected, Most Unusual Item Collected and Selfie With Your Trash Collected. Post your photos on the Facebook event page using the hashtags #TahoeBlueGooder, #litterfreetahoe and #KeepTahoeBlue and see how other Tahoe Do Gooders are helping out! Winners are selected at the end of September and the 1st prize winner takes home a snowboard from Tahoe's very own Olympian Jamie Anderson!

The competition culminates on September 26 with a physically distanced, RSVP-only cleanup event. Participants help remove trash from waterways in South Lake Tahoe. Sign up today as there' only a few days left in September, and select your "hot spot" cleanup location and request cleanup supplies. Head to keeptahoeblue.org/tbc to attend a virtual Tahoe Blue Crew training and get ready to make a difference!

North Tahoe Clean Up Day – September 26

Make a difference on the North Shore on Saturday, September 26! Be one of the many volunteers picking up trash in Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay and Crystal Bay. Registration starts at 9am at the Community House in Kings Beach. You'll be assigned a location and given bags and gloves for the ‘dirty work'. Enjoy a complimentary BBQ after or head to one of the many restaurants on Tahoe's North Shore for a delicious lunch. Thank you for helping keep Tahoe Blue and giving back to a national treasure that gives us so much beauty throughout the year!
