North Lake Tahoe Snowfest 2020 is back with your favorite events! This 10 day winter festival kicks off February 27 at GarWoods Grill & Pier. Local businesses create wacky custom events generating proceeds for local non-profits, public programs and student organisations. It's a great way for locals and visitors to celebrate and play in a snow-packed winter wonderland!
Polar Bear Swim, Silly Skill Games and Prize Races
Brave the freezing waters at GarWood's Annual Polar Bear Swim wearing just your swimsuit! Join in a 250 yard swim in frigid water or stay warm and watch from the pier. Get toasty after the swim with signature drinks, free appetizers and a prize raffle at GarWoods. Entry fee for swimmers is just $35. Stay out of the freezing water and participate in The Great Ski Race, an epic 30-kilometer Nordic ski course through Lake Tahoe's backcountry that ends with an after party at Cottonwoods Restaurant and Bar in Truckee!
Claim your chance to be an Olympian at Pete n' Peters Bar Olympics! Show off your skills in pool, darts, and shuffleboard with 16 two-person teams and make sure to head to Rosie's for a game of Blackout Bingo. Scramble your way to a win in the Snow Golf Tournament playing 9 holes with a tennis ball or carve a masterpiece from ice at the River Ranch Snow Sculpture Contest. Let the local celebrity judges decide which team takes home the prize while enjoying a BBQ lunch, shenanigans and shotskis.
Family-Friendly Events
Family Fun Day kicks off with human bowling, family seal curling, snow ball launch and s'mores at the Winter Sports Park! Watch the night sky explode in colour at the Tahoe City Fireworks show and check out one-of-a-kind floats and live music at the Tahoe City Parade and at the downtown Kings Beach Parade! After the Tahoe City Parade, kids can get messy and paint a snowman with all material provided by North Tahoe Arts.
Meet the Avalanche Rescue Dogs of Squaw Valley and take an adorable picture with one! Learn how these furry friends save lives while enjoying complimentary snacks and beverages for the kiddos. Bring your own dog to Snowfest and show them off in style at the Dress Up Your Dog event. Kids will love starting their day filling their plates with pancakes and sausage at two different pancake breakfast events hosted by the North Tahoe Firefighters and the North Tahoe Public Utility District where kids eat for just $5!
Hawaiian Luau, Hot Wings, and Ribs
Get messy at Fat Cat's Hot Wing Eating Contest and bring your aloha spirit to Sunnyside's annual Luau featuring MaiTais, Pina Coladas and Lava Flows. Make sure to wear your Hawaiian shirt for this event. Eat a pound of clams at Za's annual Calm Bake or grab smoked ribs and cocktails at Bridgetender's ribfest. Quench your thirst at The Haus Brewfest featuring beer from 5 breweries, food from Men Welding Fire, live music and arts & crafts by All Fired Up.
