Looking for a day date? Atelier – an art studio in Truckee – hosts a macramé weaving class on May 3, 11AM-2PM, instructed by Heather River, the studio's owner. Heather grew up in the hills of Sonoma County and after attending school in San Francisco for fashion design in 2002, she opened a design studio in Point Reyes, CA specializing in custom clothing and alterations. Heather has brought her craft to Truckee, and helping to cultivate a vibrant arts community in Tahoe through events like this.
Macrameis a form of textile-making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting. Attendees will learn how to tie cotton sold braided cordage into beautiful knots, creating a 24x24" wall hanging – an old tapestry art form with a modern twist. All supplies are included in the event cost.
Heather encourages guests to bring a water bottle and snacks, though it is not required. All levels are welcome, from beginners to those seasoned with macramé.Heather moved to Truckee in 2004 and has since worked with other local artists to help cultivate a vibrant arts community in Tahoe.
