A fun, FREE way for your family to spend the day together, this aeronautical Truckee summer festival is not to be missed. Themed as a "Salute to Veterans," it all starts with a hearty breakfast at 9am, followed by the Opening Ceremony at 10am. Be sure to keep your eyes in the sky, as pilots perform aerial acrobatics and jaw-dropping maneuvers overhead all day long – including Guinness World Record stuntman, Spencer Suderman. In addition to air shows, there's also a Family Festival full of hands-on activities, a Vendor Village with purveyors from the Lake Tahoe region, a Food and Beer Garden, static plane displays, remote control flights abound, and speaker forums from famous authors, pilots, and aviation icons.
Escape to the KidZone
This is the heart of the Family Festival, featuring all sorts of games, puppet shows, live music, face painting, stilt walkers, arts, crafts, and a bounce house. The tentative schedule is as follows:
9:30am – Children's Sing-A-Long
11am – Puppet Show
11:30am-1pm – Nevada Bluegrass Association
2pm – Storytelling with the Book Fairy
The Veteran's Parade
All veterans and their families are encouraged to meet at the north side of the Main Terminal at 11:15am in order to prepare for the parade that starts at 11:30am. Participating veterans receive an honorary hat, as well as seating in the Shade Tent, with optimal viewing of the day's air shows.
