Get ready for epic snow play and giggling kids as they sled and tube down hills at winter sports parks! Go ice skating at outdoor rinks surrounded by wintery forest with festoon lights floating overhead and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Ice Skating

Lake Tahoe is packed with outdoor rinks from Truckee to Tahoe City! Head to Truckee River Regional Park Ice Rink for the cheapest day skating. Ticket prices ranges from $7-$10 with $3 skate rental. Sign the kids up for ice skating or ice dancing lessons and watch them have a blast learning to twirl around the rink! Opening Day is scheduled for November 21 and a reservation system will be in place for purchasing tickets.

Tahoe City Winter Sports Park features an all-inclusive recreation facility perfect for all kinds of sports, including ice skating! Trees surround their outdoor rink making skaters feel like they're in a winter wonderland! Prices range from $4-13 for 1.25hr sessions, rent skates for $5 and a seal assist for $5. Grab a takeaway hot chocolate from Cafe Zenon while you're there and make sure to book online first as no walk-ins allowed. Online reservations go on sale November 9.

Kids love the Northstar Village Ice Skating Rink! It's set in the heart of the Village and is surrounded by fire pits perfect for making s'mores after a day on the rink. In the past it's been free to the public with skate rental price set at $12. Opening Day is still to be determined for this public rink, but we'll definitely be keeping an eye on it!

Sledding  & Tubing Hills

Kids of all ages love the tubing hills and moving carpets at Donner Ski Ranch and Boreal Mountain! Spend an entire day tubing with the family at Donner Ski Ranch. Tickets costs $28/person and include snow tube rental. Head to Boreal's Tahoe Tubing for one of the BEST play areas in Tahoe!  With lots of groomed tubing lanes for epic snow play, Boreal's 90 minute sessions are the perfect family outing and cost $29/person.

When the snow starts falling, sled hills pop up everywhere in Lake Tahoe giving way to free and cheap sledding hills! The Children's Sled Hill at North Tahoe Regional Park is great for beginners and little ones! It's  located near the entrance where you'll pay a cheap $5 parking fee. Bring your own sled or tube and make your way to the snow play area located near the upper parking lot for bigger groomed sled hills. The snow play area costs just $5/person making it a cheap family outing!

The man-made sled hill at Tahoe City Winter Sports Park is fun for everyone! Book a 1.25hr sled session with pricing ranging from $5-$12 including disc rental.
