Alpenglow Sports bursts into the New Year with its annual Lake Tahoe Backcountry Demo Event held on January 4-5, 2020 at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. It's THE opportunity for hard core riders and backcountry lovers to try out new gear at the largest and most well-known backcountry demo event in North America! Skiers and snowboarders flock to this demonstration each year for all things alpine touring, telemark and splitboard.
Alpenglow Sports, a well-known and loved specialty retailer in Tahoe City since 1979, focuses on environmental and social responsibility. The retailer brings the North Lake Tahoe community together through its passionate Tailgate Talks, adventure storytelling Winter Speaker Series, and annual Mountain Festival in addition to the Lake Tahoe Backcountry Demo Event.
This two-day demo event features Backcountry Magazine showcasing all things backcountry including demos, avalanche education, guided tours and a massive raffle as part of Backcountry Magazine's 7th Backcountry BASECAMP Tour. The lineup is better than ever this year with a redesigned setup where attendees are sure to hone their skills while learning how to safely travel through untracked terrain. If you don't already have a subscription to the magazine, you most likely will by the end of the event.
The Lake Tahoe Backcountry Demo event is FREE for participants but attendees must hold a valid lift ticket or season pass from Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows and have their driver's license and credit card on hand for a deposit. When skiers and snowboards are done trying on the latest gear, they can shred some pow on the out-of-bounds terrain and accessible side country at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort.
Stoke is high with the snowfall so scratch that itch to carve up the mountain and head to the annual Lake Tahoe Backcountry Demo Event the first weekend in January!
