The creator of Peanuts, Charles M. Schulz famously once said, “Happiness is a warm puppy.” We couldn’t agree more.
It’s not uncommon to hike in the summer along any of the trails around Lake Tahoe and Truckee and run into several furry friends along the way. Dogs abound in this area, and it’s easy to see why! The fresh mountain air and miles of wilderness make Truckee-Tahoe one of the most dog-friendly places. Not to mention the snow-loving pups in the winter: lots of powder play for them!
As a way to celebrate these furry companions join other locals and visitors at the 8th Annual Peaks and Paws at Squaw Valley on June 17 and 18 from 11AM to 5PM. Enjoy two days of pet-friendly events, from fetching contests to a new featured event from Splash Dogs — a dock jumping competition! Now we know there are many dogs who have mastered the art of dock jumping on our public Donner docks. There are planned hikes, and pet-focused or pet-themed vendors set up in the Village at Squaw. Live music, great food, local beer and wine just make Peaks and Paws one of our most cherished events …
And to top it off, proceeds from Peaks and Paws benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe! To learn more visit: http://squawalpine.com/events-things-do/peaks-and-paws
