2016 Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival

Did you know the first Earth Day happened on April 22, 1970 in the United States? It sparked an environmental movement when millions of people flooded the streets in protest. In 1990 it become a global day of celebration, honor, and education about preserving earth's natural resources and the festivals have only grown in size since then.

Earth Day festivals are popping up all over the world as younger generations seek to find new ways to preserve our natural resources – especially in a place like the Truckee-Tahoe region. Part of Truckee and Tahoe's draw is its rugged backcountry and pristine alpine lakes and rivers. So it's no surprise the Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival is a popular one in the area!

Held at the Village at Squaw Valley, the festival runs April 16, 2016 from 11am-5pm with live music, entertainment, vendor booths and raffle! Educational booths and vendors range from local artists to organizations focused on topics such as forest health, waste management, watershed health, and alternative energy. The festival is family-friendly and kids will enjoy the Earth Day Discovery Zone with an assortment of crafts from recyclable materials!

If you're an earth-lover looking to join in on the fun, or perhaps you have an itch to volunteer (those are needed!) check out https://tahoetruckeeearthday.com
