Two Unforgettable New Year's Eve Options in Lake Tahoe

New Year's Eve in South Lake Tahoe is nothing short of magical memories in the making. From the shoulder-to-shoulder hugging frenzy on the main strip to the glitz and glam action of the casinos, there's nothing quite like it in Northern California. Well, now you have three more reasons to make it up to the mountain for the New Year.

Below, we've found three events that we think will kick your 2016 off to just the right start, with Old Lang Syne in the background and new friends on the horizon.

Heavenly Holidays New Year's Eve Celebration

Fire, fire dancers, a photo booth, face painting and music make up this kaleidoscope of fun that also includes an outdoor concert, "Fear-No-Ice" sculptors who use chainsaws as their tool of choice, and Heavenly's Gondola Ball Drop at 9 p.m. will cross above the crowd, topped only by fireworks.

Thursday, December 31st, 6-9 p.m.

New Year's Eve on the M.S. Dixie II

In the mood for something slightly more subdued on the last day of the year? Do New Year's Eve on the M.S. Dixie II at Zephyr Cove and be surrounded by 360 degrees of simply stunning scenery including the shimmering and vast Lake Tahoe, majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains and diamond-like stars in the cold night sky. Guests will enjoy dinner, live music, dancing and special surprises once on board.

Thursday, December 31st, 9:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
