Memorial Day Lake Tahoe

About 1 year(s) ago by MediaConnect

Summer kicks off this weekend with the annual Opening Day at the Lake event! I'm talking restaurant deck parties, scavenger hunts, historic tours, BBQs and live music. And if you're feeling creative, unleash the painter within you at Painted Peaks, an outdoor art workshop for adults and children.

The Made in Tahoe Festival is back this Memorial Day weekend! Live music, tasty food, delicious wine, and local artisan crafts at your fingertips.  As the music drifts into the night, indulge in a 5 course family-style dinner featuring locally-sourced organic food made by local chefs – we're talking farm to table dinner! This Argentinean Asado themed dinner includes drinks and craft beer tasting on the sundeck. Buy your tickets and reserve a table at http://www.squawvalleyinstitute.org/

Eats and More Eats
Wanting the Tahoe dining experience? Take in the sunset at a lakeside restaurant like Garwood's or Jake's On The Lake or stuff your belly in Tahoe City.  Fire Sign Café boasts a yummy breakfast and Sunnyside Restaurant has a great deck for people watching while enjoying lunch and a drink. After you eat, walk off your food by shopping in the heart of Tahoe City.  There's plenty to take home with you, including jewelry, art, and gifts!

Jump in and get wet
Water sports aren't just for kids- try kayaking, standup paddleboarding, jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing – it's your choice this Memorial Day weekend!

Bike to the Lake for a sweet treat
Lake Tahoe is known for its challenging bike trails and scenic bike rides.  Start your ride at Squaw Valley and cruise along the Truckee River to the glistening blue waters of Lake Tahoe. After your ride, treat your family to ice cream at Tahoe City Chocolates.  Lean your bikes against a tree, find a picnic bench or rock just for you and enjoy the backdrop of the mountains against the Lake. It's easy to plan, full and half day bike rentals are available in the village.

Feeling really adventurous?  Checkout the MTB Skills and Trail Clinic hosted by local pros this weekend and take your bike handling skills to the next level.

Relaxation Time!
Stretch out at Wanderlust Yoga Studio or drift away to paradise at a Day Spa.  Increase your flexibility while relaxing at this yoga sanctuary in the heart of Squaw Valley.  Reserve a space or arrive 10-15 minutes early to drop into a class.  If pampering is what you need, then I definitely suggest a mini-treatment or a soothing body massage at Trilogy Spa.  Refresh your mind, body and spirit while being surrounded by the beauty of the Lake.
