Fun Things at Tahoe to Do On Memorial Day Weekend

About 6 month(s) ago by Becky Moore

Whether you decide to ski late into spring or not, we don’t blame you feeling ready for the warmer season in Tahoe. We don’t blame you for packing away your skis and poles; for trading your puffy jacket and beanies in for t-shirts and flip flops. It’s time.

Enjoying summer in Tahoe usually involves one of three things: exploring Tahoe by foot, by pedal, or by water. Memorial Day weekend is the big kick-off for the sunny season, and though it may not be the hottest day of the year, it’s still a fun way ring in summer! Here are a couple big events happening over Memorial Day:

Opening Day at the Lake, May 26-28

A time honored tradition, Opening Day is the big water christening of sorts — it’s when the boats are in the water, and deck side dining and drinking opens for the season! Don’t miss the Tahoe Maritime Museum Summer Launch Party on May , Sunnyside’s Annual Deck Opening Party, the Chambers Landing deck opening and Bridgetender’s as well in Tahoe City.

To learn more about all the openings and celebrations be sure to check out the Tahoe West Shore Association or Tahoe City Visitor Information Center.

Made in Tahoe Festival

If you’re not looking to be lakeside, check out the 5th Annual Made in Tahoe Festival at Squaw Valley on May 27 and 28, from 11AM to 7PM. This two-day festival is time of local celebration, with 80 vendor booths showcasing the artistry and design of locals. Enjoy live music, local food and drink, and perhaps your very first aerial performances by Tahoe Flow Arts Studio!

On a sidenote, the swag from Made in Tahoe is too cool — we love their hoodies to stay warm in the winter, or the cool evenings of summer and they have a neat Lake Tahoe design as well!
